My favorite medium is graphite pencil. I love the simplicity of one tool and the techniques that create depth like shading. I also enjoy oil pastel for a little change and color

<< This beautiful icon wasn't often heard. Most people just looked at her as an object. I thought it would be cool to draw her using her own quotes. The shading is achieved with several quotes written really close together

This exercise was to work with capturing a favorite artist with interesting hair. Only two people came to mind, Dolly Parton and Amy Winehouse. I went with the real hair. I also surrounded the drawing with the lyrics of my three favorite songs and her obituary >>

<< An exercise in 'Expression.' I immediately thought of a photo of my older brother when he was nine-years-old and he caught a foul ball at his first baseball game.
A painting I did and sent in a care package to an orphanage in Ukraine. Using the colors of their flag as a backdrop I chose the flower that makes me happy as the subject

Painstaking, but rewarding. This oil pastel features multiple folds and overlapping creating depth and drama. The subject was a piece of fabric in the fashion art supply box.

This oil pastel is of my mother when she was twenty-two and went for her first modeling photoshoot.

Having fun with some color

I actually became a professional artist with this piece. My high school bought it from me to display in the art department's gallery.

A friend referred to this as my mood ring paintings.
